Criterion Collection will release a luxurious box set of 30 DVDs with all the restored films of Stanley Kubrick.

It will include all of his short and feature films in restored versions, plus 25 hours of special content, many of which are unpublished and quite enticing.

The Criterion Collection will release a box set consisting of 30 discs, titled The Complete Kubrick, which will for the first time gather the entire filmography of Stanley Kubrick. The release is scheduled for October 20, 2026, and represents a novelty for home video and collectors, as until now Kubrick’s films had only been distributed in separate editions, partial collections, or budget series.

The centerpiece of the edition is the complete restoration in 4K UHD and Blu-ray of all 13 feature films and the three documentary short films made early in the director’s career (Day of the Fight, presented in both its original version and the one distributed by RKO, Flying Padre and The Seafarers). The real gem for collectors lies in the special features, which exceed 25 hours in total and offer never-before-seen archival material. Among the highlights of the collection is the presence of Shining in two different cuts: the American version and the slimmer international release, reduced by Kubrick himself by about 20 minutes. This is accompanied by a new 4K restoration of the documentary Making The Shining, filmed by his daughter Vivian Kubrick on the film’s set. The box set also includes previously unreleased audio commentaries by director Lee Unkrich and author Michael Benson, historians of the Kubrick universe, as well as the extremely rare video auditions made by James Mason and Sue Lyon for Lolita. And more: unreleased behind-the-scenes footage of Full Metal Jacket, the experimental short films of Graphic Films and computer graphics pioneer John Whitney, which inspired the revolutionary special effects of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The packaging, luxurious and designed by Drusilla Adeline/Sister Hyde Design, is a vibrant red, inspired by the folders and custom archive boxes that Kubrick used to catalog his production notes.

Inside, in addition to the discs, the box set will also include a critical essay by writer Nathaniel Rich, a conversation on the concept of authorship between novelist Jonathan Lethem and film historian Kevin Wynter, and a series of faithful reproductions of screenplays, rare photographs, and handwritten notes by Kubrick.
