Fred Again ha messo su YouTube tutto il (già leggendario) concerto in cui ha suonato assieme a Thomas Bangalter dei Daft Punk

La versione integrale del concerto dell’Alexandra Palace di Londra dura due ore e ha già accumulato più 820 mila visualizzazioni su YouTube.

Lo scorso 27 febbraio Thomas Bangalter dei Daft Punk ha fatto il suo secondo concerto da solista e senza maschera in 17 anni. Alla consolle dell’Alexandra Palace di Londra, Bangalter ha condiviso il palco con Fred again.., chiudendo la campagna USB002 del Dj londinese. La versione integrale del concerto, quasi due ore di musica, che fino a ora era stato reperibile solo in brevi video disseminati su diversi social, è ora disponibile su YouTube (e nel solo weekend ha già totalizzato più di 800 mila visualizzazioni).

Durante tutto il tour di USB002, Fred Again.. si è esibito in diverse città in tutto il mondo, approfittando di ogni serata per presentare un ospite speciale. Tra questi figuravano Underworld, Mike Skinner, Joy Anonymous, La Roux, Nia Archives, The Streets, Romy, D Double E, Berwyn, Ezra Collective e molti altri. Mentre il set al Centre Pompidou non includeva molti brani dei Daft Punk, la collaborazione a Londra li ha visti proporre classici come “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”, “Around The World” e “One More Time”. Tra gli altri brani eseguiti durante il set figuravano “Technologic”, la loro collaborazione con The Weeknd intitolata “Starboy” e un mash-up di ‘Aerodynamic’, “Rollin’ And Scratchin’” e il pezzo di Fred Again.. “Victory Lap”.

Come scrive anche Pitchfork, l’ultima volta che Bangalter si è esibito è stato nel 2025, in un set a sorpresa per la chiusura causa lavori di ristruttrazione del Centre Pompidou di Parigi. Anche in quell’occasione, l’ex Daft Punk si è unito a Fred again.., oltre al capo dell’etichetta Phantasy Sound Erol Alkan e al fondatore della Ed Banger Records Pedro Winter. Prima di allora, aveva suonato con l’altra metà dei Daft Punk, Guy Manuel de Homem Christo, durante la performance di The Weeknd ai Grammy Awards 2017. Dallo scioglimento dei Daft Punk nel 2021, il duo ha pubblicato una riedizione per il decimo anniversario di Random Access Memories, oltre a un video musicale per il loro singolo del 2005, “Human After All”, condiviso in occasione del quinto anniversario della loro separazione.
