Nella disperata ricerca della disconnessione, dell’oblio dal digitale, uno strumento che finora è stato un po’ sottovalutato è la posta. Quella fisica, basta e-mail. La posta tradizionale (l’atto di ricevere posta fisica, di scartare una lettera, dell’odore della colla, della gioia di comprare i francobolli) diventa quindi l’antitesi della gratificazione immediata degli algoritmi online. A lanciare l’idea è l’artista e studente di graphic design Jaylan Birdsong, di Atlanta. Da questa idea è nato “Perch Post”, un gruppo di persone (inizialmente 25, ora 1.600) che, in cambio di una piccola quota mensile ricevono una busta piena di materiale stampato e scritto, solitamente basato su un tema. Come ha raccontato Dazed, ciò che si riceve e quanto costa esattamente dipende interamente dalle scelte di chi gestisce il gruppo di “snail mail” (posta lumaca, lenta). Le buste, una volta aperte, contengono di tutto. Adesivi, illustrazioni, poesie, foto, lettere scritte, oroscopi.

All’elenco degli elementi anti-algoritmo che vogliono segnare il ritorno alle tecnologie analogiche si iscrivono facilmente: cuffiette con filo, iPod e simili, taccuini per annotare i pensieri, in alcuni casi i walkman, macchine fotografiche a pellicola e videocamere dei primi 2000.
