Meta ha brevettato una AI che continua a postare per te sui social anche dopo la tua morte, per evitare che i follower sentano la tua mancanza
Brevetto che, però, l'azienda ha detto che non ha intenzione di usare. Almeno per il momento.
La vita dopo la morte può anche essere un mistero, ma una certezza, una sola, per ora ce l’abbiamo: avremo la possibilità di continuare a postare anche dopo aver esalato il nostro ultimo respiro. Meta ha infatti brevettato un Large Language Model, cioè un’intelligenza artificiale, che può essere utilizzata per simulare «l’utente quando quest’ultimo è assente dal sistema di social networking, per esempio quando si prende una lunga pausa o se l’utente è deceduto», si legge nel testo del brevetto riportato da Business Insider.
Il brevetto è stato depositato nel 2023 da Andrew Bosworth, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) di Meta e, sebbene non ci sia l’intenzione – almeno al momento – da parte dell’azienda di procedere con implementazione e sperimentazione del modello, l’invenzione servirebbe per non far soffrire i follower a causa della nostra mancanza (lo si legge in un allegato di Meta al brevetto, riportato sempre da Business Insider, lo precisiamo per ribadire che non ci stiamo inventando nulla, tutta l’assurdità della vicenda è in capo all’azienda). Per colmare questo vuoto, Meta affiderebbe all’AI la creazione di una sorta di clone digitale – si è ancora alla ricerca di un nome di battesimo per questa tecnologia, al momento i più quotati sono death bot, ghost bot, grief tech – costruito sulle tracce lasciate dall’utente caro estinto sui social media, addestrando il modello facendogli leggere commenti, mostrandogli like o sottoponendogli contenuti che l’utente ha pubblicato o con i quali ha interagito. Dopo l’addestramento, l’AI potrà rispondere ai contenuti postati da altre persone mettendo like e commentando, o rispondendo ai messaggi diretti con testi, audio e videochiamate. Imitando la persona che non può più postare perché la morte si è messa di mezzo.
Questa intelligenza artificiale, oltre a simulare il profilo di un morto, potrebbe diventare utile per chiunque si guadagni da vivere con le piattaforme Meta, nel caso in cui si volessero prendere una pausa senza rischiare di perdere engagement, follower, soprattutto soldi. In ogni caso, l’ufficio stampa di Meta ha affermato che un brevetto concesso non significa sempre che quella tecnologia verrà poi davvero sviluppata e messa sul mercato.
